Max Verstappen passed 1,000 laps led for the 2023 Formula 1 season on 26 November at Yas Marina, becoming the first driver to reach that mark in a single campaign.
The milestone suited the season. Verstappen had not merely won often; he had spent most Sundays controlling the race from the front, turning the Red Bull RB19’s advantage into a year of almost permanent clean air. A season spent out front
The RB19 gave Verstappen a car with strong tyre behaviour, efficient aerodynamics and a balance he could lean on across long stints. That mattered as much as raw pace.
