Before reaching Formula 1, Fittipaldi established himself as a highly rated junior single-seater driver. He won the Formula 3000 title in 1991, a result that confirmed both his pace and his racecraft. That success opened the door to Formula 1, where he debuted with Minardi in 1992. Driving for a small team with limited resources meant opportunities for points were rare, but it also demanded technical feedback, consistency and the ability to maximise difficult machinery.

He remained with Minardi before moving to Footwork for the 1994 season. Across 43 Grands Prix, Fittipaldi showed speed that often exceeded what his cars could realistically deliver over a full race distance. His best result in Formula 1 was fourth place, underlining that he could take advantage when circumstances allowed.

Fittipaldi never had the equipment to fight at the front regularly, but his Formula 1 career still reflected the depth of Brazilian talent in that era. He later found further success in other categories, yet his place on the grid in the early 1990s remains an important chapter in his career.
