Aston Martin used the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend to launch a major Formula 1 marketing push as the championship reached its 1100th World Championship race.

The setting was almost too convenient. Las Vegas was built for spectacle, Formula 1 had returned with enormous commercial ambition, and Aston Martin wanted to present itself as more than a team having a strong first half of the season. The result was a broad promotional programme tied to the Strip, partners and the sport’s milestone event.

A team selling momentum

Aston Martin had entered 2023 with a major performance step, led by Fernando Alonso’s early-season podium run. By the time F1 reached Las Vegas, the competitive picture had cooled, but the team still had a bigger story to tell: investment, facilities, brand growth and a claim to long-term seriousness.

The 1100th race gave that message historical packaging. Team activations, branding and fan-facing events were not separate from the sporting project; they were part of how modern F1 teams build value. A quick car helps. A convincing brand story keeps sponsors interested when the lap time becomes less flattering.

Milestones as marketing fuel

The Las Vegas weekend showed how Formula 1’s history and commercial future now travel together. Aston Martin used the moment to connect heritage, glamour and ambition, even if the stopwatch remained the harder judge.

It was a reminder that modern teams compete in two championships at once: one for points, and one for attention. Las Vegas was very much the second kind of circuit as well.
